Chemical Safety Training

SEPS currently provide several classroom based training courses covering key areas of chemical safety including courses covering CoSHH and General Chemical Safety, Chemical Emergencies, Compressed Gas Cylinder Safety and an introductory course on Cryogenic Safety .  These are delivered on campus either by the University Chemical Safety Adviser or in partnership with an external provider.  Each course is designed to provide an overview of how to manage your chemicals safely, assessing the risks and taking the right steps to reduce the risk to staff, students and visitors.

Toolbox Talks

In addition to our classroom based learning we have developed a small selection of short, toolbox talks which are designed to provide a brief overview of specific topics such as laboratory security and contractor safety during remedial works in laboratory areas.  They are intended to last from 10 to 20 minutes and can be delivered locally by an appropriate person at group meetings, safety committees or other similar events with minimal preparation.  Supporting notes and other materials are provided to help facilitate the delivery of the talk and help to reinforce the learning points.
